Bingham family photographs, 1948-1956.

The Bingham Family Photographs consist of 101 images of Shishmaref, Alaska, and vicinity, taken while Herbert C. Bingham, Sr., and his wife Isabelle B. Bingham were Alaska Native Service schoolteachers there. They include images of individuals and families; views of the village of Shishmaref, the school, and the Lutheran mission; and scenes of camp life away from the village. Many of the people in the photographs are identified.

Herbert C. Bingham, Sr., (1893-1965) and his wife Isabelle B. Bingham were Alaska Native Service schoolteachers in Alaska. They taught in Karluk from the fall of 1945 through the spring of 1948, and in Shishmaref from the fall of 1948 to ca. 1956. Their son, Herbert C.
